Over 100 years old and still shining bright, this beautiful carnival glass bowl was made by Imperial Glass in the USA, likely in the 1910s, making it a true antique and a special piece of glassmaking history. Finished in a rich orange-gold with a stunning iridescent glaze, the bowl features a charming windmill scene at its centre and a softly scalloped edge that catches the light beautifully.
Imperial Glass was founded in Ohio in 1901 and quickly became one of the most prolific American glassmakers of the early 20th century. Known for their high-quality pressed patterns and vibrant colours, they were a key player in the rise of carnival glass, an affordable alternative to luxury art glass that still offered plenty of charm and sparkle. Originally given away at fairs and carnivals (hence the name), these pieces became hugely popular in homes across the US and beyond.
Whether styled on a shelf, used to hold jewellery or keepsakes, or simply admired for its shimmering colour, it’s a piece with real soul, and a tangible connection to the past.
